The most common thing we hear from anglers at shows is that good custom resin glide baits are just too expensive - and with inflation, baits that used to run $125 now cost $175-200. The Clutch Eco was built specifically to fix that, without giving up what makes resin worth the extra cost in the first place.
Why resin, and why it's expensive
Resin outperforms plastic across the board - more stable, more bites, more fun to fish. But it's genuinely difficult to work with: sanding, filling, painting, and clear-coating are all labor-intensive steps that drive the price up fast.
The fix: eliminating clear coat entirely
The breakthrough on the Eco was a paint process that bakes the color directly into the material, eliminating clear coat altogether. It's more durable than any clear coat could be, because there's no separate layer to chip or peel - the color is part of the material itself. We also redesigned the molds themselves to minimize air bubbling, rather than relying on a labor-intensive fill process, so the bait skips several of the most time-consuming steps in a traditional resin build without sacrificing the finish's durability.
What that trade-off looks like
The Eco won't look as intricate as our $140+ baits - the OGs, Bosses, and Darters - because the whole design was focused on efficiency and on the things that actually catch bass, not the fisherman. Every single one still gets personally swim-tested before it goes out the door, so the fish-catching performance isn't compromised even though the finish is simpler.
Built specifically for 20lb test
A lot of small glide baits perform best on 15lb test or lighter, which most first-time glide bait anglers are reluctant to spool up on a $100 bait. So the Eco was engineered from the weighting up to be fished on 20lb test - which naturally runs a little more nose-down, since that heavier line's drag is what levels the bait out and lets it swim straight instead of trying to breach the surface. Internal weight and buoyancy were tuned specifically around that heavier-line behavior.
The result: a 6-1/4", 1.5oz resin bait with genuine fish-catching performance at a price point that's never existed in this category before.
